The basketball staff at the MAC believes in teaching the fundamentals of basketball and doing so with as much positive reinforcement as possible. At a young age, fundamentals are extremely important. The athlete's foundation must be solid if the player wants to play at a high level and the foundation is built by learning the fundamentals of basketball. We believe in teaching children in a calm manner and we believe that a coach should never attack a player personally. The player should be taught a particular basketball function and it should be repeated over and over until it becomes a part of muscle memory.

Player development is the main goal of The Mac basketball staff. Winning is great but we want to see a player grow, learn, and become a better player year after year. We don't want a player's best performance to be in 4th grade. We want to see the athletes that have been taught at The MAC to become good solid players in high school and college.

We also try to instill positive character traits in our players such as teamwork, mental toughness, performing under pressure, unselfishness, respecting authority, and doing their best at all times. These are necessary traits that we need in today's society and we try to teach our kids the importance of having great character.
